The machinist at a local Speed Shop introduced me to Lubrication Engineers oil in 1971.  He was doing machine work on the engine for my Mini Cooper racecar and told me that I would have better oil pressure, more tolerance to high revs, and reduced wear with LE.  I didn’t have enough baseline information, or run that car long enough to see a difference.  In 1974 I became associated with a BMW Motorsport sponsored IMSA team.  We had a problem with high differential temperatures that caused early gear failure, causing us to replace an unusual number of gear sets and loose a couple of races.  Changing to LE gear lube (#607) made a big difference in our reliability.  In 1977 the synchronizers in my BMW’s transmission were failing and the LE rep. suggested a lube to try (#300).  It reactivated the synchronizers and when the car was totaled 200k later they were still good.  At the same time the local BMW dealer was having a problem with synchronizer failure in a high percentage of the new 320i’s he sold.  He tried changing the lube to the same LE as part of the pre-delivery and it solved the problem.  He has also found that LE lube has a higher success rate at quieting a noisy differential in a Mercedes than rebuilding.  I have since restored the synchronizers in two high mileage VW transmissions for myself with an LE Lube (#604).  During my 15 years of travel with Winston Cup I learned of several top teams who purchased LE lubricants even though they were given products by the major brands.  I am frugal and don’t believe in miracles, so it took me about thirty years to finally convert all my equipment to LE products.  Even my Stihl chainsaw starts and runs better with LE 2-cycle oil(#8104).  You won’t find information about LE on any of the online consumer oil evaluation web sites.  LE markets to industry and large fleets.  My experience is that racers, and people from industries, that use LE products discover the benefits in their personal vehicles and equipment and share the information with friends.  I get many unsolicited stories from customers about their experience with the benefits of using LE.     Tom Bishop
